4,182 new infections reported on Tuesday, 6,211 on Wednesday and 7,416 on Thursday – The number of coronavirus infections is increasing rapidly and dramatically in Austria. More than 50,000 people were actively infected Thursday, the highest level since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The number of people seriously ill with Covid-19 is also growing rapidly: 2,737 people were in Austrian hospitals, 407 of them in intensive care units. In view of these values, the commission, which performs a new risk rating for Austria every Thursday, saw only one color: red.
Without exception
And at all levels: the federal territory as a whole, all federal states and the 93 districts or regions turned red at the traffic light in Corona.
Last week, the commission issued the highest risk level for Austria as a whole, as well as for eight federal states. However, there was still room for gradations: Carinthia was the only federal state that remained orange, four districts and regions were still yellow, twelve orange. On Thursday, however, there were no more differences.
