After the federal government left the opening of the lifts to the federal states despite the closure, the decision in Tyrol was as expected: the lifts for the locals will open as planned from 24 December. He welcomed the fact that the ski lifts can open for Christmas as planned, said Governor Günther Platter (ÖVP).
“It is clear that all safety measures and concepts must be met. Sports and outdoor exercise are in the foreground,” said the country manager, referring to the preparations that the cable car industry had already made. And he immediately explained the rest of Austria to his sports-passionate compatriots: “What is running or walking in the park or forest in eastern Austria, skiing is for us in Tyrol.”
In addition, Platter accepted the actions taken by the federal government. They are “regrettably necessary”. “We all would have liked the number of infections to decrease more quickly. I understand very well that many people are tired of this pandemic and would have waited for relief to finally come,” said the governor.
