Pedagogical Head of the Directorate of Education: “It was not expected like this”

Klaus High School is the hardest hit
Since the beginning of school in the fall, Klaus Middle School has had a particularly difficult time struggling with Corona. There are currently three of the nine classes in quarantine. A class must enter this class if two or more students test positive. Of the 160 students, 60 young people are in quarantine, plus ten of the 25 teachers.
The school principal, Dieter Losert, told “VN”: “We recorded quarantine cases from the first day of school, it happened very quickly with us.”
No school closings yet
State Medical Director Wolfgang Grabher attributes the current massive spread of the virus in Vorarlberg schools to neglect of hygiene standards. Despite the high crown numbers, the state medical director refuses to close schools.
Reason: the virus carriers would no longer be on the radar, a possible spread would be difficult to track.
Grabher explains: “Infected children without symptoms could spread the virus abroad much more easily and without being observed.”
