The 80 percent replacement of business and business income has been expanded – Private room owners are now eligible, too.
A few days ago, Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP) and Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) announced that a new business support package had been drawn up. This is aimed at cushioning the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown.
Therefore, companies that went out of business under the new Corona Protective Measures Ordinance can claim compensation for sales of up to 80 percent of previous year’s sales as of last Friday (Nov. 8). This includes accommodation, event organizers, gastronomy and the leisure sector.
Now private room owners also have the right
As Elisabeth Köstinger’s Ministry of Tourism (ÖVP) announced on Friday, regulation is now being expanded. The replacement of sales with public funds, received by the catering, tourism and leisure businesses with Corona, now also extends to owners of private rooms.
Therefore, the corresponding requests can be made through the AMA starting on Wednesday. “Farm Holiday” businesses, taverns, and wine taverns are now also eligible.
The replacement of 80 percent of income for the month of November will be paid to owners of private rooms who rent private rooms for guests or vacation apartments with a maximum of ten beds in their own home and are not subject to commercial regulations (GewO 1994).
30,000 beneficiaries in Austria
According to the ministry, there are around 38,000 private room tenants across Austria, of which around 30,000 are eligible. Up to 8,500 agricultural and forestry companies offering “farm vacations” will also receive a billing replacement. Up to 3,500 taverns and wine taverns are also licensed. The sales substitute must be available for November, the calculation base being the same period of the previous year.
The rooms and apartments that are rented through Airbnb are generally not in your own home, according to the APA news agency.
