Businesses affected by the lockdown have been able to request an 80 percent revenue replacement since Friday. The trade also requires compensation for lost sales.

Many companies are closely related to the hotel and restaurant industries, which are largely blocked by the lockdown and are therefore affected. Not all areas of commerce are equally affected, but declining sales for commerce must also be replaced.

Great financial difficulties in trading too

“Here, justice is the order of the day, and quick help is also required for those who are currently allowed to stay open. Our distributors performed excellently in this crisis situation, followed health requirements and maintained to employees on the job with the help of Corona’s short-time job the workforce will soon receive November and December wages or Christmas bonuses. This can pose enormous financial difficulties for many companies, “said Rainer Trefelik, division president of federal commerce of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) in a broadcast on Saturday.

In order to measure changes in business volume due to the blockade and derive demands from it, the federal trade division has developed a tool together with Economica, the economic research institute. Retail companies can report their daily sales here in November and December. The goal is to show the volatile sales development in the industry. Anonymized data entered by companies should be used at the branch level for stakeholder work.
