The Rohrbach district developed from a model Corona student to a deep red district in just a few weeks. Around 300 active cases (according to the counting method) suggest that District Chief Wilbirg Mitterlehner asked if the situation in the district is still under control: “Of course we have the situation under control. And to keep it that way, I can only ask you Rohrbach residents appeal to personal responsibility. It will definitely be harder. “
How thin the ice is is shown by the fact that almost every community in the district is now affected. Although the south is “a little better”, corona cases are basically found throughout the district.
Working to the limit
The crisis team is working full speed so that you can keep track of things. “Between 20 and 25 people were always on call until after midnight on long weekends,” says Mitterlehner, taking his hat off to his colleagues: “People work overtime and come voluntarily to help. Many have increased their hours, we have staff from the country and they have also hired students ”, he explains. Almost 80 percent of all employees are at least partially involved with the crown’s agendas, in addition to their daily work. “We would all like a day or two to take a deep breath. If you’ve been on staff for three days, you’re done,” says the district chief.
Although there is some hope that the fall break will have a positive effect on the numbers, Rohrbach does not believe that the summit has been reached: “We strongly appeal to people not to use All Saints Day for larger gatherings. “Mitterlehner says.
Many individual cases
What makes the job so tedious at times is the fact that many individual cases need to be followed up. When people become infected in the private sphere, which is often the case, it is often difficult to follow up. You can also see a tension in the situation in the tests themselves: “Sometimes, we can only send people to take the test after the next day,” says Mitterlehner. One bottleneck is the availability of test kits, but also the capacity of the laboratory: “Everything comes in batches, sometimes only in the late hours of the night.” (fur)
