Crown numbers in Austria continue to rise. Health Minister Rudi Anschober (Greens) has now explained what is important now.
The corona pandemic continues to worsen around the world, but especially in Europe. Strong increases in the last 24 hours have been reported from much of Europe, from France with an increase of 27,000 confirmed cases to the United Kingdom with an increase of 26,000.
The increases were particularly strong in the Czech Republic with an increase of 14,900. But also in Austria the daily figures are alarmingly high with 2,435 new cases with 25,278 registered tests and 1,353 new patients. The main increases are in Vienna (659), Upper Austria (471), Lower Austria (403) and Tyrol (338).
Rudolf Anschober, Minister of Health: “In one week, positive tests increased by 35 percent, hospitalizations by 50 percent, and the number of intensive care beds occupied by 35 percent.”
Three basic measures
The 7-day incidence (cases per 100,000 population), now accepted internationally as a comparative value, has risen to 118 in Austria, 55 in our neighbors in Germany, 87 in Hungary, 115 in Italy, and 235 in Switzerland and Slovakia. in 172 and Slovenia in 254, in the Czech Republic even in 563. The development in Belgium (528) or France (227) is also dramatic “.
“Now we must try very hard to achieve stabilization again and stop the current strong growth. We have shown several times in the spring and in recent weeks that this is possible,” explains Rudolf Anschober.
The three basic measures (hygiene, minimum distance, MNS), the use of the Stop Corona app, rapid tests and management of quick contacts, as well as consistent measures at the national and regional level are the main options.
Anschober: “It is important to understand that the measures and also a greater participation of the population in the measures are only reflected in the statistics with a delay of two to three weeks.”
