131 new cases in Salzburg

In Austria, 1,524 new SARS-CoV-2 infections have been reported in the last 24 hours. The number of confirmed active cases increased to more than 15,000 for the first time; there were 15,130 people across Austria on Tuesday. There was a significant increase in hospital patients: compared to Monday, there were 90 more, 889 patients with Covid-19 had to be treated in the hospital, 145 of them, like Monday, in the intensive care unit. The number of deaths increased from ten to 914.
A week ago, on October 13, 107 patients had to be treated in intensive care units, so their number has increased about 36 percent in one week. Covid 19 patients in normal wards recorded an increase of about 30 percent, from 504 last Tuesday to 654 people affected in the hospital Tuesday.
Almost 19,500 tests in 24 hours
A total of 19,469 test results were reported in the past 24 hours, of which about 7.8 percent were positive. An average of 1,446 new infections were recorded during the last seven days. At 9:30 a.m. M., 67,451 people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the epidemic in Austria. 51,407 are considered to have been recovered. Also on Tuesday there were again a significantly different number of tests and records in the epidemiological register (EMS) of the individual federal states.
New infections since the last report are distributed among the Austrian federal states as follows:
- Burgenland: 39
- Carinthia: 34
- Lower Austria: 139
- Upper Austria: 243
- Salzburg: 131
- Steiermark: 158
- Tyrol: 292
- Vorarlberg: 155
- Vienna: 33
