Crown checks were held at several well-known party venues in the city last week. A terrifying image was presented to the governing bodies of many clubs and restaurants.

The city of Vienna, together with the police, carried out Covid-19 checks at the Viennese club scene. Officers went out for four afternoons or nights and found dozens of violations of applicable Covid-19 measures. 26 companies were reviewed, several had to be evacuated. Guests at the party were aggressive and unapologetic, it was said Sunday.

Inspectors from the municipal administration’s immediate measures group were out and about in popular party spots on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights along with individual district officials. Exactly which clubs and bars were controlled was not disclosed.

Dozens of violations of Covid controls in the Vienna club scene

According to a broadcast, the same image emerged in many clubs and bars: exceeding the prescribed number of people, no protection for the mouth and nose, dense crowd on the dance floors, consumption of drinks and food in the bar and on the dance floors. of dance. The latter has been banned from Monday. “The naivety of some of the guests and operators in the current situation is sometimes scary,” said Walter Hillerer, head of the immediate measures group.

Too many people were present at four restaurants; the upper limit of 50 people applies here until midnight on Monday. In one restaurant, more than 100 people were counted. According to the city, three clubs celebrated long after the 1:00 am fixed curfew. This also applies to private parties starting at midnight. These three establishments were evicted. The mostly young audience in the pubs disagreed with the controls. According to a spokesperson, some of them had to be “strongly persuaded to leave.” In one case, a doorman even tried to prevent inspectors from entering the restaurant, and the police had to intervene here.

Numerous announcements: guests to the party insulted the control bodies

The control bodies were insulted and verbally abused in several bars, the police filed eleven administrative complaints in this regard. Six other reports were made for undue noise. A total of 48 complaints were filed for breaches of safety regulations (blocked escape routes, blocked fire doors, security lighting that did not work) and relevant laws and regulations (commercial regulations, price labeling law, … ).

The officers also ran follow-up checks multiple times, and at least there were no repeat offenders. The spokesperson also emphasized that most of the club and restaurant operators adhered to the applicable laws.

“There is no place for illegal parties”: curfew at 1.00 am

“We are in a critical phase of the pandemic,” said Gerhard Pürstl, chairman of the state police in Vienna. “Illegally held events or parties that are driving the spread of the virus should not have a place,” he said. In any case, the police and the magistrate announced new controls.

The tightening of the most recent “COVID-19 Regulation” will apply from midnight, it has probably lost the name of Relaxation Regulation due to these stricter regulations. They go into effect on Monday at midnight. Thereafter, a maximum of ten people plus underage children can sit per table. As is already the case with staff, starting tomorrow MNS will also apply to customers if they are not in their seat. Indoor seating is mandatory from Monday.
