According to Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, the police will “randomly” check from January 18, 2021 if the corona tests required to visit cultural events, hotels or restaurants have been performed.
“If you don’t want to, you don’t have to. Nobody is forced to go on vacation to a tourist business or go to a cultural event and see a concert,” Kurz said when he announced the third closure on Friday.
“Free trials” of the blockade: controls from 18 January
According to Kurz, the corona test is only required once before the week of January 18-24 for the general public. However, the government wants to prescribe a weekly crown test for certain professional groups with intensive contact with clients.

If you don’t want that, you will have to work with a mask. In addition, there will be a “permanent test infrastructure” that the federal states will establish together with the armed forces in mid-January. Schoolchildren of a certain age should also have the option of trying on themselves or wearing a mask.
When asked, Kurz would not say if the same restricted voluntariness will also apply to upcoming corona vaccines. Here he “does not want to anticipate.” When it comes to vaccination, the first thing to do is to vaccinate people over 85 and at risk groups as soon as possible.
Nehammer announces intensive police checks
