SPÖ state director Roland Fürst calls for the establishment of a special commission with independent experts at the federal level in the case of “Commerzialbank”.

BURGENLAND. “700 million euros are disappearing and no one seriously questions this system, that is completely grotesque,” says Fürst, surprised and referring to the opinions of experts who assume a “failure of multiple authority”.

“Invoices to fictitious persons”

Fürst recalls “solid evidence of embezzlement” that existed in 2015. And it is that in 2018 the tax investigators denounced the bank’s co-supervisory board to the Eisenstadt prosecutor’s office on suspicion of tax evasion, when they were already talking about “invoices to fictional people. ” Then the bank took more than two years to close. and many people lost their money. That could have been avoided. Trust in this supervisory and control system wants to end. That is why we want an independent special commission with experts from different areas as soon as possible, ”said Fürst.

“… as if a couple of chicken eggs had been stolen”

The state director of the SPÖ also criticizes the fact that neither Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, nor Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler nor the finance minister responsible for banking supervision, Gernot Blümel, have so far commented on the Commerzialbank case in detail. “Those responsible for the federal government ignore this 700 million euro criminal case as if a couple of chicken eggs had been stolen in Mattersburg,” says Fürst in amazement.
