In addition to rain and wind, snowfall is particularly possible. In the mountains in places even up to 1,000 meters.
A cold front and a low in the south determine the weather on Friday. Then it rains from thick clouds widely and sometimes heavily. Especially in Carinthia, in the Graz basin, as well as on the eastern edge of the Alps and in the Vienna basin, storms are mixed with precipitation. At night, the snowfall line will also descend from the west to places around 1,500 meters above sea level. The sun hardly appears, more often only in the south and southeast. The wind comes mainly from the west, but in the eastern half initially from the southeast to the south and generally blows moderate to strong. Early temperatures are nine to 18 degrees, highs only 19 to 22 degrees.
Under the influence of a low pressure vortex, Saturday begins with thick clouds and rain. Most of the rain falls north of the main alpine range, as well as in the north and east. The snow line is between 1,000 and 1,600 meters. In the afternoon precipitation decreases from Upper Austria to the east and the cloud cover begins to loosen. However, further west it remains cloudy and humid. The climate is much friendlier to the southern foehn in the south and southeast. Here it only rains locally in the morning. The wind comes from west to northwest and blows in the Foehn valleys south of the main Alpine range and in the east, sometimes fast to strong. It is four to ten degrees in the morning and six to 15 degrees during the day.
On Sunday, the low circles directly over Austria. Climatically active zones are expected to be largely outside the country and only graze. As a result, from today’s perspective, it is mostly friendly to a longer sun and only in the mountainous region are there stronger clouds. The wind blows from the west, especially in the Danube region and the eastern plains, but it weakens during the day. It’s cold with morning temperatures between zero and ten degrees and daily highs of only ten to 17 degrees.
On Monday there is still a big and surprising low pressure system in Central Europe. A corresponding area of precipitation nests against the Alps from the north and brings occasional rains, which can sometimes be productive. The snowfall line moves between 1,500 and 2,000 meters. Rainfall remains rare in the east and south and the sun occasionally appears here. However, there are large uncertainties for the forecast. The wind can be stronger regionally. It comes mainly from south to west. After two to ten degrees at the beginning of the day, nine to 16 degrees are expected in the later course.
The previously determining weather low will move east on Tuesday. This calms the climate in Austria. Cloud-like disturbances still persist in some areas, but rain is to be expected on the northern side of the Alps. The wind comes from west to northwest and blows moderate to strong, on the southern side of the Alps, the northern foehn can be more easily noticed. Morning temperatures range between three and eleven o’clock, the daily highs between 13 and 19 degrees.
