The lawyer for the vice world champion had previously announced at the request of dpa that he was not currently assuming a position. Metzelder himself has yet to publicly comment on the allegations. The Düsseldorf administrative court recently prohibited North Rhine-Westphalia Justice Minister Peter Biesenbach (CDU) from publicly informing the legal committee of the state parliament on the state of the proceedings. After the investigation against Metzelder became known, the 39-year-old had suspended charges and offices and left the public relations agency he co-founded. He had suspended his participation in the DFB soccer teacher training course.
NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) said on Friday, upon request, that the participation of a former national player in the Ruhr Conference, an initiative of the state government, has been dormant for months. The defendant could still be seen on the conference website on Friday.
