Munich – Contract poker delivery for ÖFB star David Alaba: Champions League winners Bayern Munich have withdrawn their offer to extend the contract that expires next summer. “There are no more offers,” Bayern president Herbert Hainer said on Sunday night on the “Blickpunkt Sport” television program. Bavarian broadcasting.
Alaba moved to Munich in the summer of 2008. Bayern have been negotiating for months with the 28-year-old Viennese and his adviser Pini Zahavi about a contract extension. In his opinion, the offer from the German soccer champions was “very good, very fair, competitive,” emphasized the Bayern president.
Offer still “unsatisfactory”
“In fact, a new situation arose over the weekend,” Hainer said. Alaba’s advisor was told they wanted clarity and an answer by the end of October. “For such an important position and staff we also want to have certainty in planning,” explained the club boss.
After no one knew anything until Saturday, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic “actively checked again” with the adviser, Hainer said. “And the answer was: that the offer is still unsatisfactory and that we should think more. So we decided to remove the offer from the table entirely. That means there is no offer anymore.”

Bayern coach Hansi Flick had re-announced in recent days to keep his head of defense. More recently, sporting director Salihamidzic had also stated that Alaba did not want to put “an ultimatum” on a decision.
The succession is apparently already being arranged
However, Hainer made it known that the successor is now being addressed. “Of course we also have to make plans for the future. I want to say once again that we really appreciate David, he’s a lovable guy, he’s a crowd favorite, he’s FC Bayern Munich’s own generation, and that’s why we would be sorry if we have to go our separate ways at the end of the season, “said the 66-year-old.
Alaba last publicly spoke about his situation three weeks ago as part of the ÖFB team camp. “I feel very comfortable in Munich, it has been my home for twelve years. I was able to experience very pleasant moments there,” the defensive off-roader said at the time.
More recently, there was speculation about a possible move to Juventus from Turin, in case contract talks with Bayern break down. With the Munich team, Alaba will meet Austrian champion Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday (9pm / Sky live). (WHAT / dpa)
