The dead end between FC Barcelona and six-time world footballer Lionel Messi, who is willing to change, could move.

According to the Argentine sportscaster TyC Sports, Messi’s father and manager, Jorge, boarded a private plane in his hometown of Rosario on Tuesday to Barcelona. A meeting with the president of Barça, Josep Bartomeu, is scheduled for Wednesday.

The star forward Lionel Messi stayed away from the training of the Catalans on Monday after not showing up to the crown test the day before. Spanish media reported on Tuesday that the Argentine faces a heavy fine if he continues to boycott Barça’s training sessions.

Messi, who moved to the Catalan metropolis at the age of 13 and scored 634 goals in 731 competitive matches for the Barça professional team in the last 15 years, insists on the immediate termination of his contract, which runs until 2021.

A legal battle threatens when the club believes Messi’s early exit clause has expired.

League: exit clause applies

The Spanish league last supported the club in the conflict. The League announced that the termination clause was still in force, according to which the Argentine could only leave the Catalans early for a transfer fee of 700 million euros.

Messi is reportedly drawn to Manchester City, who are coached by his former mentor Pep Guardiola.
