After it has been clear for some time that the Cannes Film Festival cannot take place in May as planned due to the crown crisis, at least part of the industry meeting is being relocated on the Internet. The film market, which generally runs in parallel to the festival, will run June 22-26 as a purely online edition, the festival said.
“No one knows what the second half of the year will bring, and whether it will be possible to host major film events again this year,” said festival director Thierry Fremaux. With the online format for the film market, which typically involves some 12,000 industry representatives, the goal is to support the film industry and many filmmakers in these uncertain times.
