A 21-year-old woman was busy cleaning briefly outside the building while her two-year-old daughter waited inside. However, in an inadvertent moment, the girl removed the wooden wedge that was supposed to prevent the massive fire door from closing. The glass door closed, separating mother and daughter.
After the woman left her cell phone and door keys inside the building, she had no choice but to wait in front of her daughter until an attentive passerby passed by and alerted emergency services for her. When officers arrived at the AMS, the daughter was visibly desperate and crying. Police alerted the Braunau volunteer fire department, who arrived with ten men and prepared to open the door.
Fortunately, a firefighter knew an AMS employee and notified him. The man arrived after 15 minutes and was able to free the girl. To make the time until the AMS employee’s arrival more bearable for the little girl, a firefighter held his cell phone up to the glass and put the little girl’s favorite series on it.
