BVB is subject to Eintracht Frankfurt, a bitter blow in the Champions League race

For Borussia Dortmund in particular, it was a groundbreaking duel with the great starter: Europe or the Champions League. Four points separated Borussia from Frankfurt before the game. In the main match, BVB coach Edin Terzic had to play against Jadon Sancho, but Marco Reus and Raphaël Guerreiro came back and started behind top forward Erling Haaland from the start.

The Frankfurters were willing to at least keep their distance from BVB and relied on a strong and compact defense, but had to do without Martin Hinteregger (rehab). Kostic brought a free kick from left midfield to midfield, Hummels jumped under the ball, Stefan Ilsanker was there from seven meters and headed to the right corner. However, previously he was offside, the hit did not count.

In the final phase, the Frankfurters surprised BVB with renewed leadership. Jovic moved to the left half of the penalty area and was separated from the ball by Hummels. The ball landed on Kostic, who crossed exactly to the far post and there he found Silva, who headed to the right corner from four meters and thus perfected the victory of Frankfurt (87).

Haaland looked not only unhappy, but equally unhappy on Dortmund’s offense. The Norwegian rarely put the accent: he had two great chances to score for his club. The Portuguese played his 150th match for BVB against Eintracht Frankfurt. During this time he scored 27 goals and gave 30 assists. His contract runs through the summer of 2023.
