Rapid got off to a dream start and proved incredibly efficient in the first half as well. In the second minute, Kelvin Arase dusted off Ercan Kara’s shot, which goalkeeper Rene Swete was only able to stop briefly, to make it 1-0. In the 35th minute, Kara completed the margin to make it 2-0.
Hartberg had to play the second half with ten men after Bakary Nimaga’s yellow-red (44th), but made the game exciting again thanks to a controversial goal from Thomas Rotter (66th). The ball had jumped into the defender’s hand. Arase with a stab (76º) made everything clear for the long stretches of the Viennese sovereign.
Arase attacks after 70 seconds
After the rotation against Arsenal, Rapid coach Didi Kühbauer was able to draw on most of his regular eleven. He made a lightning start. TSV goalkeeper Rene Swete blocked a shot from Kara right in front of Arase’s legs, who only had to fire after 70 seconds.
Rapid then got the game under control, gave the Styrians no chance in the first half and also scored with the dangerous second drive. After a stupendous pass from Maximilian Ullmann, Kara approached Swete alone, initially missing the goalkeeper, but took advantage of the rebound with her head.
Hartberg gets up with ten men
Shortly before the break, things took a turn for the worse for the Hartbergers. Nimaga, who received an unjustified yellow card in the 22nd minute, was sent off with yellow-red. With ten men, the locals fought bravely and were rewarded in the 66th minute. Thomas Rotter scored on Hartberger’s first chance, but the ball had jumped into his hand.
Shortly before and after that, Rapid struggled with a goal from Kara and a shot from Arase with tight offside decisions, and the next difficult situation rightly failed to whistle. After a defended shot from Demir, Arase pressed for the final score. For Rapid it was the first Bundesliga win after two draws and one loss.
Voices for the game:
Markus Schopp (Hartberg’s coach): “Unfortunately, we started the game 0: 1 due to extremely poor defensive behavior. We gave the opponent a perfect start. We only managed to get into our game after the 2-0 draw. We took the opportunity to catch up, but unfortunately we couldn’t follow up because it wasn’t possible with ten men. “
Didi kühbauer (Quick coach): “It was an important away win. We started off perfectly and made it 2-0 at the right time. Even after reaching the next goal, we managed to keep going. That’s why we deserved to win. We knew about the quality of the Hartbergs, but still managed to never really let them come into play. All players with minor ailments should be back in shape by Thursday. “
