For Hartberg it was only the second home win after a 2-1 win against Austria in late October of this calendar year. Altach ends the year after a completely botched fall streak, just one point ahead of last in the Flyeralarm Admira league as penultimate. The spring season begins on January 23rd.
Inspired by the 4: 1 at SV Guntamatic Ried last weekend, the Vorarlbergers started the game better. A quick counterattack gave the visitors their best chance after just a minute and a half of play. Following a pass from Emir Karic, Daniel Nussbaumer fired on Hartberg goalkeeper Rene Swete, as well as on the opposing house. It should remain the only significant opportunity until shortly before the half-time whistle.
Hartberg first chance just before half-time
Much effort and struggle and few playful solutions determined the game. The deep earth did the rest. The bumpy turf gave the locals a chance to take the lead in the last minute of the first half of the game. Altach defender David Bumberger missed when the ball jumped in front of him. Rep pulled Martin Kobras alone, but shot Altach’s goalkeeper in the legs.
At Altach’s sick, Alain Wiss stayed in the hut. Again, coach Alex Pastoor’s team initially had more possession, but no penetration in the decisive third. Both teams waited for the opponents to make mistakes. One of them led the way for Jürgen Heil towards the goal, but the Hartberg midfielder missed twice in an action on Kobras (63rd).
Rep hits from the edge of the penalty area
Hartberg rose again as the game continued and was rewarded: Altach acted too passively, the ball reaching Rep through Sascha Horvath, who shot from the edge of the penalty area in the far corner. The result lasted because Chinedu Obasi missed the goal in Altach’s final attack (90th).
Voices for the game:
Markus Schopp (Hartberg’s coach): “It was a very important game for us. With victory we set an example upwards. Altach was a bit stronger in the first half, but Rep’s big opportunity caused a shake-up in the team. In the second part we fight for being overweight and we reward ourselves with victory. We had an incredible 2020 with great moments for us. The fall was difficult for us, but in the end we solved it well. “
Alex Pastor (Altach coach): “This game was symptomatic. We didn’t deserve the victory, and neither did our opponents. We have to worry now. “
Martin Cobras (Altach goalkeeper): “In the end, there is zero interior continuity, vulnerable behind, harmless in front. Those responsible will now worry. If we continue like this, we will play in the Second Division next season ”.
