For at least 24 hours, the Bundesliga leader is called FC Augsburg. After the FCA won at Union on matchday one, they now had a surprise win over BVB.

Felix Uduokhai headed the hosts after a free kick to give the lead (40th minute). There was no sign of this until then, BVB had been the superior team, Uduokhai’s attempt was Augsburg’s first. Dortmund, which is now more offensive, was caught off guard only shortly after by a former Schalke: Daniel Caligiuri ran to Thomas Meunier and rose to 2-0 (54th).

Anyone who expected a forceful response from the favorite was disappointed. Visually, Borussia remained superior, but there were hardly any clear chances to score. In the table, BVB is 10th, three points behind FCA.

Despite being in the lead, Leipzig missed an away win. Emil Forsberg had shot RB in the lead after a quarter of an hour (and had previously dribbled over Lars Bender). Even before that, Kevin Kampl had missed a great opportunity for the guests. Leverkusen’s equalization was a surprise, but it was very pleasant to watch: Kerem Demirbay shot the ball in such a way that it took an almost unpredictable trajectory and fell sharply, hitting between the hand of goalkeeper Peter Gulácsis and the crossbar (20th).

As a result, both teams had good chances in an entertaining game. Florian Wirtz missed the post for Bayer, Leipzig’s Hee-Chan Hwang shot the ball over the goal after Christopher Nkunku missed with a free kick to Bayer goalkeeper Lukas Hrádecky (74th).

The team had started a training session on Wednesday, so Mainz’s appearance against VfB was awaited with particular enthusiasm. The result: it was quite disappointing.

05 even took the lead early by Robin Quaison (13th). But even then, Stuttgart’s promoted team was the most dangerous team. Therefore, it was no feeling that VfB was able to turn the game around. Silas Wamangituka tied before the break (45th), Daniel Didavi gave the lead to Stuttgart (61st). Mainz defender Moussa Niakhaté had to leave the pitch with yellow-red (77th), shortly after Mateo Klimowicz (80th) and Sasa Kalajdzic (86th) decided the match. Pascal Stenzel from Stuttgart was sent off with yellow and red (90º). Mainz is 17th with zero points from two games, VfB improved to seventh place.

Mönchengladbach is still waiting for the first league victory of this season. Borussia fought against Berlin and was lucky not to be left behind; The union Sheraldo Becker hit the crossbar after about half an hour (31). A corner kick gave Gladbach the lead, Marcus Thuram headed a Jonas Hofmann cross into goal (56th). Nico Schlotterbeck managed to equalize for the guests (80th). After the 3-0 draw against BVB, Gladbach has only one point after two days of play, which translates to 14th place. Union is 13th with one point.

Cologne is still looking forward to the first Bundesliga victory since the beginning of March. Coach Markus Gisdol’s team lost in the promoted Bielefeld, the last time FC won on 6 March in Paderborn, 13 matches have since been played.

In Bielefeld, Cologne won more deals than Arminia, but big opportunities were rare. Arminias Joan Edmundsson then hit FC goalkeeper Timo Horn from a very sharp angle in the short corner, it was not entirely clear if the striker had planned it that way or if he really wanted to cross (78 °). With zero points from two games, FC is currently 15th in the table, Bielefeld is fourth with four points.
