The Dornbirn Bulldogs prevailed in Monday’s only game of the ICE Hockey League at EC KAC after a shootout, celebrating their third straight away win.

For the Vorarlbergers it was the first win against the Carinthians since January 28, 2018 or 9 losses in a row. The 4: 3 shootout win was also the Bulldogs’ rematch for a 1: 3 home loss in their first season game in early October.

The Ländle guests laid the foundations for success in the opening third: there, the EC-KAC was initially more present, more active, but left 40 seconds 5v3 unused, and was punished for this when Anton Straka (7th ) in the slot David Madlener gave no chance. Thomas Hundertpfund’s interim call for a distractor (15th) was recognized by the guests in the opening third with a double strike in a minute and a half. First, Andrew Yogan (17th) scored on his first goal for the Bulldogs, before Sam Antonitsch (19th) established a rebound at the net.

The redjackets, increasingly taking control, followed early in the center section: Rock Ticar left the puck in the slot for Lukas Haudum, who crashed the goal against Kreuzeck (22). KAC leveled off, surviving two late penalties in the middle third, including a great chance from Kevin Macierzynski, unharmed and able to equalize early in the last stretch when Fredrik Eriksson (42nd) sank a hard blow to the wrist perfectly. Both teams then had a chance to decide the match in regulation time, but had to go into extra time, where their legs were visibly heavy. Dornbirn defended skillfully, the KAC was not dangerous enough to avoid the penalty shoot-out. Finally, the guests applauded thanks to Henrik Nilsson’s goal.
