In Bulgaria, a new parliament will be elected on Sunday amid the third crown wave. The 6.7 million eligible voters will decide whether Prime Minister Boiko Borissov’s pro-European bourgeois party, GERB, will continue to rule the poorest country in the EU. According to polls, GERB has a good chance of winning the election, but is unlikely to win an absolute majority. Up to seven parties and coalitions could create the four percent barrier to entering parliament.
Polling stations are open from 6 am to 7 pm CEST. After its closure, the publication of forecasts based on voter surveys will be allowed after the vote. Final official results can be expected up to four days after the election.
