In “ZiB2”, Federal Chancellor Kurz explained for the first time the forthcoming regulation on the “free choice” of the blockade, and an important difference.
Anyone who does not want to be subject to the 24-hour curfew until January 24, 2021 inclusive, has the opportunity to “try for free” from the close of January 18. Until now, opinions have been divided on how exactly it should work. A legal regulation is still pending and there are still many open questions. At “ZiB2”, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) brought some light into the dark just before the turn of the year.
Specifically, there will be an important difference in terms of the maximum validity of your own corona (negative) test:
48 hours
In cultural and sporting events, cinemas and hotels, that is, whenever an entry or registration form is required, a negative test must be submitted, which must not be more than 48 hours old. “Why are we doing this? Not to torture anyone, but because it is the only way to increase these areas at this stage,” Kurz adds.
One week
In the restaurant industry, someone else controls and, according to Kurz, that is not the operator. The debate on the duty of inspection had spilled out several times in recent days. Innkeepers are now free of liability, so to speak, because in the catering industry, health authorities will check negative customer test on random samples. They can also count on the help of the police.
An important difference with the other mentioned areas: The presented corona test can also be older in gastronomy, here it is valid for one week. But he briefly warned both guests and owners: It was a “wrong belief” that the restaurant could open without restrictions. Here too there will have to be support measures.
Unusually emotional chancellor
As part of the ZiB2 interview, ORF moderator Martin Thür also directed the conversation to the question of whether the government had protected the elderly and nursing homes against the corona virus in a timely and appropriate manner. Kurz reacted in an unusual emotional way: “I almost get aggressive every time I think about this topic: ‘How is that happening?'”
