The lawyer for the convicted Norwegian mass murderer has applied for parole.
Oslo – Convicted Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik wants to be released early. Her lawyer Öystein Storrvik told the “Verdens Gang” newspaper on Wednesday that she had applied for parole on behalf of her client.
You have the right to judicial review of such request for release after the minimum period of detention; in Breivik’s case, this is ten years. Furthermore, according to the lawyer, Breivik is planning another lawsuit against the Norwegian state due to his detention conditions, for violating his human rights. Years ago, he had repeatedly failed with a similar approach.
The right-wing terrorist, now calling himself Fjotolf Hansen, killed a total of 77 people in attacks in the Oslo government district and on the island of Utöya on July 22, 2011. In August 2012, he was sentenced to 21 years of preventive detention with a minimum of ten years. At the time of sentencing, this was the highest possible sentence in Norway.
