A 28-year-old was doused with gasoline by his boss on Saturday night in Vienna-Wieden. Then the 32-year-old man wanted to set the man on fire with a lighter, a witness prevented him. Police spokeswoman Barbara Gass reported from questioning that the perpetrator, who was arrested shortly thereafter, claimed that he had had an argument with the 28-year-old because he was not satisfied with his work. She denied the accused attempted murder.

The dispute escalated shortly before 3:30 am at the Wiedner Gürtel office. After the company’s co-managing director doused the 28-year-old with gasoline, a fight broke out. The perpetrator fled, but returned to the company shortly after, where the police arrested him.

The investigation was carried out by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, Mitte branch. In the first interrogation, the 32-year-old Syrian denied not only the intent to kill, but also poured gasoline directly on the person. The man was arrested.
