Boss announces Swarovski employees on vacation – economy

The Swarovski crystal company is once again causing a stir with its dubious termination methods.

The crown pandemic hit the Swarovski crystal company hard. The company would like to cut a fifth of its employees worldwide. 1,000 employees will lose their jobs at Wattens alone.

The company uses very strange termination methods. In a “Servus TV” report, a supervisor at the machine recounts how he and hundreds of other colleagues were fired from their vacation by the boss on Wednesday via video conference. The closing conferences were held in groups.

Notice of termination displayed on the big screen

Besides the video conference, there was another emotion. The names of employees who lose their jobs are said to be displayed on large screens.

The AK Tirol speaks of “creepy termination methods”. You have photos of a screen where you could see organization charts and lists of employee names, reports “ORF Tirol”.

“I have rarely seen anything of such a low level”

“The names of those who can stay were in a green field, those who have to leave in a red field,” AK President Erwin Zangerl said in a broadcast on Wednesday. “I have rarely seen anything so flat.”

The screen is said to have been in an area that employees would have had access to. The AK suspects that these are internal lists that were never intended for such a publication.

Swarovski’s central works council chairwoman Selina Starkz also slammed it on Wednesday. Several of those affected addressed the works council very angry after their names appeared on the screens.

Swarovski: “regrettable failure”

A Swarovski spokesperson confirmed that the names were on the screens, but claimed those employees had been informed in advance. So they would not have found out about its termination “through the screen.” “If a manager has failed in a department, the company’s management regrets it,” the group said in a statement.

For AK boss Zangerl, the company’s approach condemned: “Externally, you present yourself socially, internally, you show your true face.” According to him, employees are “under massive pressure.”

“Employees should work less voluntarily to save the company,” reports the AK president. Anyone who disagrees will be suggested that you are not there for the company.

According to the Chamber of Labor, those affected should not in any way agree and communicate with the chamber. The ÖGB Tirol was also “surprised by the different and sometimes very reprehensible finishing methods used by Swarovski”.
