Börse Express – Aktien Wien Conclusion: Heavyweights are raising the ATX

The Vienna Stock Exchange ended the session on Friday with clear surcharges: it was preceded by a trading day with a weak start, moderate progress and a good final breakout. The leading ATX index rose 0.82 percent to 2,410.27 points, while the ATX Prime rose slightly less clearly by 0.60 percent to 1,227.65 points. Above all, heavily weighted bank stocks and good openings in US stocks drove the leading index higher.

In general, the mood in the markets is currently ambivalent. Initially, the ATX had started the session with negative signs: weak US guidance, profit taking and concerns about the increasing number of new corona infections weighed on prices. At the same time, hopes for an effective Covid19 vaccine further boosted performance in equity markets.

Therefore, the leading index changed sign shortly after the start of trading and was able to maintain premiums throughout the day; after the friendly start of trading in the US, then it increased the price gains. The increase was mainly due to a strong performance in banking stocks.

Erste Group was among the course winners with a 2.91 percent lead, followed by its industry colleague Raiffeisen Bank International (plus 2.52 percent). Bawag also rose in price 0.62 percent. Additionally, the OMV heavyweight index also gained 1.85 percent.

To the bottom of the list at the end of the week, DO&CO took a position, which fell 3.58 percent. Zumtobel (minus 2.87 percent) and Vienna Airport (minus 2.79 percent) were also among the stocks with the largest daily losses. From an industry perspective, construction stocks were under some pressure. Strabag closed 1.25 percent lower, Porr fell 0.74 percent.

Austrian Post presented the results at the end of the week. In total, in the first nine months of 2020, the company recorded a decrease in operating profit of 37.4 percent to 81.4 million euros with the increase in sales. How it continues into the fourth quarter largely depends on the development of the pandemic and possible lockdown measures, the Post said. The shares were able to gain at first, but abandoned their progress and ended the session 0.53 percent weaker. / Kat / ste / APA / fba
