Biden needs strength | kurier.at

Except that the man is extremely dangerous because of what remains of his office and because of his closest followers (what reason have all those who have always urgently recommended him to psychotherapy). His son Donald Jr. already talks about “total war” (who was that again with “you want total war”?) And encourages his father, as in a bad movie, to fight for these elections to the death – America in 2020!

The man who will now take control finds an America that is more divided than ever. No, Trump did not invent the split, he only deliberately deepened it and solely with a view to its (alleged) success. The dividing lines run between city and country, between blacks and whites, between the ascendants and losers of modernizing society. There is a crisis between the simple workers and the highly educated, between the blue and red states, between the young and the old, also within the fields, especially within the Democrats.

Joe Biden has a strong mandate thanks to what was in the end an impressive election victory, and the outgoing president can rumble as much as he wants. In addition to experience, the 77-year-old is said to have empathy and the ability to build bridges as outstanding qualities. Nothing would be more important than that, and perhaps it is good for a politician of yesterday to take over the direction of great American cinema in today’s irreconcilable black and white, the increasingly stubborn egomania of opinion, the devastation of respect.

It’s not about the Oscar, it’s about much more. One can only wish Joe Biden the strength he needs to do so. Doubts and wishes are not mutually exclusive.
