The first departure restrictions in Bavaria for months now apply for 14 days. Unlike Kuchl (Tennengau), this is not a district quarantine.
Borders to Salzburg open
Therefore, the exit restrictions that came into effect on Tuesday afternoon do not affect commuter traffic, transit or shopping between Bavaria and Salzburg. The border crossings with neighboring districts will remain open for the time being. Berchtesgadener Land stores are still open. However, the politicians appealed to the Austrians and Bavarians to restrict their mutual shopping traffic.
In Wals (Flachgau), Mayor Joachim Maislinger (ÖVP) does not expect any effect on his community. “The borders must remain open, it is not a quarantine”, he explains in an interview with SALZBURG24. Also in Hallein (Tennengau), Mayor Alexander Stangassinger (SPÖ) does not assume that the stricter measures will have any impact on the district capital. “I guess our employees are also allowed to come from the Bavarian region. It shouldn’t have any effect on us,” he says when asked by S24. The two mayors did not receive official information on Tuesday afternoon.
Bavaria does not rule out border controls
However, Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) believes that we may have to talk about border controls again. “The discussion about increased border controls could flare up again if the infection situation in neighboring countries gets out of control,” the CSU politician told the Funke media group newspapers.
“At the same time, we are attentive to the close economic relations with the intensive travel of employees, for example, with the Czech Republic and Austria,” said Herrmann. In the Czech Republic, the number of new corona infections had recently skyrocketed. The number of new infections is increasing in Austria as well, as is practically everywhere in Europe.
Empty streets in Freilassing
In Freilassing, the effects of the quasi-lockdown could already be felt on Tuesday afternoon. As a photographer from the FMT-Pictures agency told SALZBURG24, everything was closed at 2 pm sharp. The city center has been left empty, except for a few walkers, it is quiet.
In the Berchtesgadener Land district, the number of new corona infections per 100,000 residents dropped slightly to 236.01 in a week on Tuesday. On Monday, according to the district office, the value was still 272.8 and thus was at the top of Germany. Since Monday, 40 more cases of Sars-CoV-2 have been confirmed, the day before there were 57.
Exit restrictions in Berchtesgadener Land
For the residents of the Berchtesgaden district, daily life will change from today, at least for the next two weeks. During this period, residents are only required to leave their homes for “valid reasons.” This includes:
- Professional activities
- Medical or veterinary treatments and therapies
- Shop for daily needs and use of services such as B. Hair salon visits
- Visiting life partners, the elderly, the sick or people with disabilities (outside institutions) and exercising rights of custody and access in the private sector
- Accompaniment of people in need of support and minors
- Accompaniment of dying people and people in serious life-threatening conditions, as well as funerals in close family circles.
- Sport and exercise outdoors alone, with another person who does not live in the same household or someone from the same household, but without group training
- Animal care
Fine of 25,000 euros per violation
The regulation also states that the police will control these rules. During a verification, it must be made credible that you actually left your own four walls for one of these reasons. Violations are punishable by a fine of up to 25,000 euros.
Free time is limited
As previously reported, businesses throughout the district that are used for recreational enjoyment must also be closed. These include swimming pools, clubs, bars, game rooms, but also theaters, brothels, and club rooms, as well as fitness studios, sports halls, and playgrounds. The restaurant business is also restricted. Restaurants must close at 8 pm and can only offer their food to go or to deliver. The hotels are only open to business travelers.
Tight exit restrictions forced hundreds of tourists to leave on Tuesday. Berchtesgadener Land Tourismus estimated the number of tourists who wanted to spend an autumn holiday in the mountainous idyll around Watzmann and Königssee at almost 2,500.
No visits to hospitals and nursing homes
In addition to exit restrictions, there are also visitor bans. These apply to hospitals, care centers, facilities for the disabled, nursing homes and senior citizens, as well as residential communities with outpatient care. Child and delivery rooms are excluded, as well as palliative rooms and hospices. However, only the closest relatives can visit here.
Mandatory outdoor mask
Schools and kindergartens will also be closed. However, there will be emergency care, which is one of the exceptions in the regulation. It is also new that in certain areas it is mandatory to wear a mask. From 6 am to 11 pm These areas are marked.
