Basic decision to include iClinic Bratislava Capitals

The application for iClinic Bratislava Capitals to join the ice hockey league was received on Friday after a circulation decision among the eleven existing league clubs unanimously agreed. After a thorough examination of the required documents, the Slovaks received the basic right to play for the 2020/21 season as another international representative and first participant from Slovakia. IClinic Bratislava Capitals now has until May 4 to finally confirm the right to play by fulfilling the obligations required by the basic decision.

Just days after signing a contract with the new title sponsor bet-at-home, the international ice hockey league is facing Slovakia’s growth for the first time. The significant iClinic Bratislava Capitals app also impressed with the Onrej Nepela Ice Hockey Arena, which should be available for all games. The arena, which only served as the venue for the 83rd Men’s Ice Hockey World Championship last year, would be the league’s first stadium with a capacity of more than 10,000 spectators.

The Slovaks would also be the team with the most recent history in the league. The club was founded in 2015 as HC Bratislava. After two years in the third and two years in the Slovak second league, the team lost a new face before the 2019/2020 season. HC Bratislava became iClinic Bratislava Capitals. In the first season after the rebranding, the capitals led the 1st Hokejova League (SVK2) before it stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
