A 25-year-old from the Zwettl district drove a small van on the B38 towards Sandl shortly after 5 a.m. At the same time, a 53-year-old man from the Freistadt district was also driving a van in the direction of Freistadt and passed a truck unknown in the district of Oberrauchenödt (municipality of Grünbach). The 53-year-old man collided with the oncoming 25-year-old vehicle and pushed it into the adjacent one. Quit.
As a result of the collision, the 25-year-old’s vehicle rolled over and remained on the roof of the creek bed. The 53-year-old truck also veered off the lane and stopped at the creek bed.
The 25-year-old injured man was able to get out of the vehicle independently and later notified emergency services. The 53-year-old man was still injured and unconscious in the vehicle. He was released from the vehicle by firefighters and then taken with the ambulance to UKH Linz. The 25-year-old was taken to LKH Freistadt.
The B38 was closed for about two hours. In the traffic accident, an unknown amount of oil leaked from both vehicles and entered the adjacent Etzenbach feeder and then into a fire pond. Firefighters immediately erected an oil barrier there.
