The management team of the media group Axel Springer wants to give up part of the salary due to the crown crisis in the second quarter.
“We have now decided that the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board give up 20 percent of our salary for the second quarter,” said Axel Springer CEO. Mathias Doepfner in a video message to employees. This is a small contribution to keep costs down.
Döpfner emphasized that the effects of the crown would hit the group harder in the second quarter than in the first. Sometimes there are “significant drops in sales”. The industry service “Horizont” had first reported in the video message.
The Berlin-based Springer Group (“Bild”, “Welt”), like many other media companies in Germany, has already used the short-term job instrument for certain parts of the company. A major problem for the industry is that advertising revenue in the advertising area is lost. Due to contact restrictions, there have been many cancellations or postponed projects.
