AVL List GmbH in Graz, with around 4,000 employees, will lay off 220 employees by the end of the year due to the Corona crisis. A spokesperson confirmed a corresponding online report from the “Kronen Zeitung” on Thursday. Despite the reduced working hours, reductions and other adjustments, the step must be taken “to position itself well for the future.” The layoffs are paradoxical because AVL is considered a “well-positioned company with future issues.”

The resignations were communicated to AVL employees on Wednesday. According to the company spokesman, “future emissions must be assured.”

Automotive industry

The cause of the reduction is a “moderate order situation in the automotive industry”, a “dent”, although the technologies of the future are being developed for the mobility sector in particular. Completions occur in all areas. Affected employees should be informed in the coming weeks.
