The number of infections in the Czech Republic has exploded in recent days. That is why there is a blockade at the national level.
As of tomorrow, Thursday, almost all stores in the Czech Republic will have to close due to the covid. Czech Health Minister Roman Prymula announced on Wednesday. The reason for this blockade imposed throughout the country is the dizzying number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2. Grocery stores, drug stores, and pharmacies are excluded.
As an added measure, there are also exit restrictions, similar to those in spring. According to the government, the population should limit contact with other people to “the time absolutely necessary.” However, walks in the park are allowed, as well as necessary purchases, medical or family visits. Last 12,000 new infections
Observers classify the infection situation in the Czech Republic as dramatic. In the last 24 hours alone, around 12,000 new cases were added. For comparison: the Czech Republic has 10.2 million citizens, just slightly more than Austria. The number of people who have ever tested positive in the Czech Republic is just under 194,000.
So far, more than 1,600 Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded in neighboring Austria. The Czech Republic is one of the countries in Europe with the highest infection rates per 100,000 inhabitants.
It is the next confinement in the vicinity of Austria. More recently, the Berchtesgaden district in Bavaria had to impose a blockade because a group of shisha bars had sprung up.
