In the tests of students and teachers without symptoms, no differences were found between primary schools and lower grades or between students and teachers. Which is an indication that children between the ages of six and 14 may also play an important role in the spread of the coronavirus.
There are no significant differences between elementary schools and the lower levels of AHS or new middle schools, between teachers and students, as well as between the federal states; That is the result of the first dark figure study (prevalence study) in 243 schools across Austria, conducted by a consortium of the Medical University of Graz. the Medical University of Innsbruck, the Faculty of Medicine of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz and the University of Vienna in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
Between September 28 and October 22 of this year, a total of 10,464 randomly selected children, adolescents and teachers were examined (all voluntarily) without complaints, that is, without medical cause.
Of the test subjects, 5204 pupils or teachers from a primary school (49.7 percent) and 5260 students or teachers from a middle and lower secondary school (50.3 percent). 308 of the samples obtained were unusable (2.9 percent), mainly because the respective school physicians did not correctly transfer the gargle water to a container. 40 of the remaining 10,156 samples were positive. This corresponds to an overall prevalence (positive result rate) of 0.39 percent with a fluctuation range of 0.28 to 0.55 percent.
