The approval of the vaccine in the EU is imminent. Health Minister Anschober announced that 343,547 cans should arrive in Austria in February.
AstraZeneca vaccine approval is imminent. It should be approved for the EU on January 30, that is, next Saturday. This was announced by the CEO of AstraZeneca at the meeting of the Board of Directors on the procurement of vaccines in the EU. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) expects the first deliveries of the AstraZeneca vaccine from 7 February.
Consequently, the vaccine can be delivered to Austria in three tranches in February: 63,354 on February 7, 97,763 on February 17, and 182,430 at the end of February. A total of “343,547 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in Austria in February,” he said.
AstraZeneca delivery cuts
Originally, AstraZeneca should have delivered 650,000 cans to Austria in February. On Friday, the manufacturer AstraZeneca announced that it may temporarily deliver less vaccine than originally planned. The reason was lower production at one location in the European supply chain, he said. For example, instead of two million doses of vaccine, Austria will initially only receive 600,000.
The Health Ministry expects the delivery of one million doses of the two pre-approved vaccines from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna in early April. According to the “electronic vaccination card”, a total of 138,517 people have been vaccinated in Austria so far.
