The Minister of Labor, Christine Aschbacher, and the top of the social partners met today to the Federal Chancellery.
The main theme was the new world of work brought about by Corona, especially the home office. The Federal Chancellor asked the Minister and the social partners to modernize the labor legislation. The question is what regulations are now necessary. Aschbacher announced that he would convene his own working groups with the social partners to find new solutions. The working groups should present their first results by March 2021.
The common goal is to work together, says Aschbacher: “It will be increasingly necessary to return to offering home offices.” Together with the social partners, they want to agree on an appropriate framework, the working groups are now being formed, the aim is to find the best possible solutions. “Whenever possible and sensible, we recommend using the home office again.”
Industry President Georg Knill emphasizes that it is now a sustainable set of rules, the industry is a constructive partner.
AK President Renate Anderl says on the subject: “During the pandemic, we noticed that the Home Office was becoming a problem, but of course we need this set of sustainable rules.” Many topics that are still open now need to be discussed with experts. It deals with issues such as employee protection, post-pandemic accident insurance, as well as data security and codetermination.
