Now I’m only using one page and otherwise I’m using the app’s media library. To save space, Siri, which should now be much smarter and faster, is now compactly displayed, incoming calls or messages, only the top or bottom edge of the screen is occupied, leaving enough room for other content. A new picture-in-picture mode lets you watch videos while doing other things on your iPhone or iPad.
iMessage now also gets the big update we were hoping for. You can pin the conversations that are most important to you at the top, a photo can now be provided to groups, there are long-searched threads in chat, and you can mention people directly. To enjoy Memoji even more, there are now new versions of the stickers and even more customization options.
Apple Maps has been pretty good software for a while, but it’s still not competitive with Google Maps when it comes to points of interest in my opinion. Unfortunately, there will hardly be any changes in the new version. For this, however, he relies on expertly curated Apple travel guides. These are guides that summarize the most important and interesting places for you. Bike routes can now also be plotted correctly. If you have an electric car, now you can better plan routes and take refueling into account.
iOS 14 also comes with a translation app that is supposed to compete with Google Translate and Co. Check it out if you have a lot of stuff to translate.
If you have set up a HomeKit smart home at home, you will like the new home app, which is now clearer and has a new structure. In addition, it now offers automations that can help you in your daily life. Activity zones and facial recognition, which you can activate for HomeKit Secure camcorders, are also new.
Safari has also received an update and once again it should be not only much faster, but also more secure. Among other things, it controls whether your passwords have been the victim of a leak. Also, you can now translate pages and receive a data protection report if you wish. If you want to get rid of Safari, you can now set Chrome or Edge as the default browser. Mail applications can now also be defined as standard applications.
CarPlay has also received some changes, such as new funds that you can set up. CarKey can also be used in compatible cars, so you can use the iPhone as a car key.
AirPods owners can look forward to automatic switching between devices, AirPods Pro also receive spatial audio for even better spatial rendering.
