Coronavirus: application developed by the supermarket chain against queues
In the crown crisis, retail is inventive. The Italian supermarket chain “Esselunga” has developed an application to avoid customers having to wait in line for too long. The app is currently being tested in Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany and Piedmont.
Thanks to a geolocation system, customers can locate the closest “Esselunga” supermarket. You will be given an access number and you will be able to check how many customers are in front of you. Then you can go to the supermarket just before getting access with your number. In this way, “Esselunga” wants to prevent people from queuing for a long time and, therefore, reduce the risk of contagion.
If you do not want to download the application, you can also receive your number and information about the length of the line in front of the supermarket by SMS. “We want to make shopping easier for customers and protect their health at the same time,” said Esselunga.
