Anschober: The number of new infections continues to fall

“Before the final week of closure, the number of new infections will fall again for the first time,” Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) said on Saturday. This also applies to hospitalizations and the critically ill in intensive care units. Now a particularly strong and dedicated last week is needed.

“Let’s all show once again that we can make a great contribution, we reduce direct contacts and constantly comply with the minimum distance, hygiene standards and all specified measures,” emphasized the department head. Next week should bring a record reduction in new infections.

132 people died

On the first Saturday of November, 8,241 new catastrophic infections were registered, the second 7,063, the third 6,611 and on Saturday 4,669 new infections with a record of 40,205 registered tests and 7,446 new patients. The number of tests is increasing enormously at all levels. In Austria a total of 3,061,067 tests have been carried out.

The measures only lead to a decline in new infections after just under two weeks and a reduction in hospital admissions of sick people after another week, according to Anschober. Then the deaths also decrease. “That is also urgently needed, because even today the death toll is extremely high, plus 132.” (apa)
