Anschober: No controls in private, even if legally possible

The Minister of Health emphasizes: There should be no crown controls in the private sector.

Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) and ÖVP club president August Wöginger claimed Tuesday that they did not want to police the crown in non-public areas. “We have no interest in doing any controls in the private sector,” Anschober stressed. Wöginger said it would be better to appeal to people’s personal responsibility.

The stricter crown rules shouldn’t affect private apartment living. But the claim that politics should never interfere with the home is a myth, writes Philipp Aichinger.

These controls “will not exist, regardless of whether it is legally possible or not,” said Anschober, who was asked about the attorneys’ statements. Internal experts are of the opinion that this is not possible. “I also believe that it is also politically important to maintain the privacy of the private sphere,” said the minister.

No criticism, but plenty of praise from Anschober for Gerry Foitik, the Federal Rescue Commander of the Red Cross. However, he did not support his ideas of dispensing with the tests on K1 people, because it certainly has an added value for those affected to know whether they are corona-positive or not. Foitik did not represent this to arrive at other figures, the health minister said. He, Anschober, in any case, would want European standards for calculations and therefore better comparability.
