Health Minister Rudolf Anschober responded quite directly to criticism of its “termination” by saying: “The blockade will end in a week,” he promises.
The decline in new infections continues, on the first Saturday in November there were still 8,241 new infections, last Saturday “only” 4,669. Meanwhile, deaths are at an all-time high of more than 130, the worst part still ahead of hospitals, doctors warn.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober also believes that the numbers remain too high despite the lockdown. “We need a strong end to the confinement. For serious illnesses and deaths to drop massively,” he shared on Twitter. This statement generated strong criticism, because many users consider it extremely unreal that everything can be restarted on December 7.
“The blockade will end in 1 week”
Surprised by the word “finish”, a user advises the Minister of Health to pay more attention to what he promises when choosing the words. “Do you really think that in a week everything will be over and we can ski happily?” Late in the evening, Anschober replied: “No, but the lockdown will end in 1 week. Therefore, the lockdown will end.”
It remains to be seen whether Health Minister Rudolf Anschober will be able to deliver on his promise and whether Austria can truly end the blockade in one week, remains to be seen next week. Anchober announced a few hours in advance what had to happen first.
Anschober works 20 hours a day
Anschober also caused a stir with his emotional question to a Twitter user. You answered a critical question about vaccination with “What’s wrong with you?” Anschober then deleted the tweet, apologizing and explaining his emotional response with his current workload. “I work 20 hours a day,” said the health minister.
