1,346 new corona infections were recorded in Austria on Wednesday. Most of the cases occurred in Vienna.
In Austria, a new record was reported Wednesday with 1,346 new SARS-CoV-2 infections in 24 hours (as of 9:30 am). According to the Ministry of Health and Interior, the number of deaths related to Covid-19 increased by eleven people to 872 deaths during the same period. Of 654 people hospitalized, 43 more than yesterday Tuesday, 112 needed intensive care.
25% weekly increase
The number of active cases also increased from 11,516 to 11,954. In a weekly comparison, this means an increase of 25 percent, the number of deaths increased by five percent in this period and the number of hospitalizations by more than 18 percent.
Almost 17,000 PCR tests were added in one day, the proportion of those who tested positive was 7.9 percent. 5,523 tests were reported in Vienna, the 402 new infections resulting in a positive participation of 7.3 percent for the federal capital.
