Annex to the crime of murder of Zaubertal: victim stabbed or strangled

LEONDING. After this morning’s murder in Leonding, the police arrested a 29-year-old suspect. The victim is a 25-year-old Honduran woman who studied in Linz.

The student lived in a house in the magical valley with her 39-year-old half-sister, her husband, and their eight-year-old daughter. The 29-year-old Spanish suspect, known to the family, was visiting. Apparently, there was an argument between him and the victim. The victim’s half-sister went down to the basement of the house around 9 a.m. after noticing the argument. A little later, the half-sister’s husband joined them and there was a fight with the assailant. Meanwhile, the couple’s eight-year-old daughter pulled her grandfather out of the house next door; Together, the two men were able to subdue the perpetrator and fix him with cable ties to the handrail of the basement stairs. They notified the police and the ambulance. The 39-year-old half-sister passed out.

Stab wounds and suffocation marks

Upon arrival, the officers immediately attempted resuscitation, which, however, was unsuccessful. The notified emergency physician could only determine the death of the 25-year-old. According to the police, the dead woman had stab wounds and strangulation marks. “The exact cause of death is not yet known. We have to wait for the autopsy,” the press spokesman for the Upper Austrian state police department, district inspector Michael Babl, said in an interview with the review of the district. It is also unclear why stepsister 39 fainted. “We also assume the reason is a fight with the suspect. The half sister has not yet been questioned!”

The perpetrator confessed

The detainee was transferred to the Linz Police Detention Center. The investigations were taken over by the Upper Austrian State Criminal Police Office. In a first interview, the 29-year-old confessed, but kept silent about the motive and the background. The Linz prosecutor ordered an autopsy.
