States and federal districts must impose their own additional rules if they deem it necessary to contain the infection rate. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Green) said this in the press lobby after the Council of Ministers, referring to a previous “excellent” conversation with the districts shown in orange. Legal protection should be available in early October.
As an example of additional measures, Anschober cited an expansion of those areas where protection for the mouth and nose should be applied. Meanwhile, corresponding regulations had already been drawn up in Upper Austria and parts of Krnten. They should now be legally protected. This requires a decision in the National Council next week, to be followed by the Federal Council. According to information from the APA, the Lnderkammer will postpone a special meeting early next week.
For the Health Minister, the next two weeks will be decisive, as is also shown by the widely divergent forecasts that the experts presented yesterday to the Government. The positive scenario foresees a stabilization around 650 new infections per day, the negative scenario an exponential growth with around 1,500 cases.
What is evident in all the orange regions is that it is not the big events that are the problem, as they have sophisticated concepts. But private events, for example a kind of apres soccer, then sociables sit together after soccer games, where the rules are no longer observed.
“Too Complicated” Gastroenteritis Record
Anschober does not currently support Vienna’s desire to introduce compulsory registration in the restaurant sector. Anschober rated as positive that there is now security in the supply of protective clothing.
