More than a third bicycle sold is an electric bicycle. Overconfidence and lack of exercise take their revenge: this year, eleven people in Austria were killed in accidents involving electric bicycles.

Traffic accident statistics do not distinguish between electric road and mountain bikes, but both variants are naturally affected.
