The American online giant offers information about its business in Austria for the first time. Many national retailers benefit from Amazon, improper taxation remains a problem.
During the confinement, many people avoided buying on the Internet. And even now, at the height of the Christmas business, many prefer to shop online rather than have to worry about long lines at crowded stores. In recent weeks, there have been many warnings that this would put sales in the pockets of international tech companies and that national distributors would fall by the wayside. A common enemy, it seems, was quickly found: Amazon.
About a quarter of all Austrian online shopping sales go to the US online retailer, which has long become the benchmark for all other internet marketers when it comes to the comfort. Amazon now goes on the counter offensive. In a report available to the “Presse”, the American group provides information on its Austrian business and cooperation with Austrian distributors for the first time.
