Convocation of the Austrian Episcopal Conference to all parishes: Due to the increase in crown infections, joint services and celebrations in the cemetery should not take place.
FÜRSTENFELD / AUSTRIA. Due to the increasing number of wreaths, joint celebrations in the cemetery should not be held throughout Austria on All Saints ‘Day and All Souls’ Day. The Austrian Bishops’ Conference stipulated it in a regulation that was published yesterday Thursday. The bishops are responding to a request from the federal government and highlighting that “due to the increasing number of infections in the current development of the pandemic, it is not possible to remember the dead in the usual way this year.”
Assistance for personal prayer and remembrance of the dead.
At the same time, people are encouraged to visit the graves on the occasion of All Saints ‘Day and All Souls’ Day and pray for the dead. However, only in the closest family circle. In this context, larger family gatherings should be avoided this year.
However, religious services are held and here too, on All Saints ‘Day and All Souls’ Day, the deceased are commemorated and prayed for.
Help for personal prayer for the deceased and for commemorating the dead at home and in graves can be found on Praise of God, diocesan websites and at www.netzwerk-gottesdienst.at
