The winning streak is broken: Alexander Zverev has just lost his third consecutive victory in a tournament. The 23-year-old from Hamburg lost 7: 5, 4: 6, 1: 6 to Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Paris Tennis Masters.
Boris Becker remains the only German to have won the prestigious indoor tournament in the Bercy district; Becker triumphed in 1986, 1989 and 1992.
For Zverev, after twelve wins and two titles in Cologne, it was the first loss since the knockout round at the French Open, also in Paris. Despite the disappointment of missing his 14th ATP tour title, Zverev climbed one place in the world rankings to sixth on Monday. (SERVICE: The ATP world ranking)

Zverev’s co-favorite in London
This year he can only score more points in the season finale of the top eight professional tennis players (as of November 15). With two tournament wins and two finals after the crown break, Zverev is one of the favorites in London for the last big title of the year. In 2018 he was the third German after Becker and Michael Stich to win the tournament.
In Paris on Saturday he had defeated 13-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal 6: 4, 7: 5 in the semifinals. Against the new world number four, Medvedev, he lost after 2:07 hours for the second time in the seventh game. The winner takes home € 225,210 in prizes, Zverev consoles himself with € 150,000.
He seemed correspondingly relaxed in the interview after the finale. “Everything is great in my life, I will probably soon be a father and I feel very good on the court,” he said at the award ceremony: “Under the mask I laugh a lot.” Defeat doesn’t change anything: Zverev doesn’t want his ex-girlfriend Olga Scharypova’s serious accusations to throw him off course.

During the Masters in Paris, more accusations were made of Scharypova in the tennis magazine. Racket he denounced alleged physical and psychological violence in the relationship with Zverev. After his win over Nadal, Zverev said: “I learned that there will always be people who are not good to you. They want you to fall when you are up. It is up to me not to let that happen.”
He did not want to go into the detailed allegations of Sharypova. His new adviser, Bela Anda, informed SID last week with reference to Zverev’s Instagram statement: “Alexander Zverev continues to defend his clarifying statements made there.”
